Dear CLES Families,
The beginning of the school year is always an exciting and energizing time that brings inspiration and reminds me how blessed I am to work in the field of education. The staff returns refreshed, full of enthusiasm and great ideas for the upcoming year. The students bring their own energy and eagerness to connect with their friends and engage in their learning. This is a wonderful time of year to reflect on the past school year and re-focus our goals for the new year. It is an honor to serve and work with such highly qualified and dedicated staff, hard-working students and the supportive parents of our CLES community.
As I move into my 2nd year as Principal at CLES, I am looking forward to continuing our educational journey together and providing opportunities to collaborate and deepen our relationship in order to ensure the success of all of our students. As a lifelong learner, I also feel it is important to continuously provide opportunities to enrich our knowledge and inspire our staff, students and families throughout the learning process. Through parent information sessions, staff professional learning communities and a focus on meeting the needs of every learner, I know we will have a year in which all members of the CLES community feel empowered in the learning process.
In planning for the upcoming school year, Mr. Scobie, our Assistant Principal, and I collaborated with several staff members over the summer to develop some consistencies of practice and to build upon the ‘Environment of Encouragement’ structures that we put into place last year. This year we will implement a school wide set of expectations – “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Ready,” and recognize students following those expectations at a high level with our ‘Dolphin Dollars.’ We will further enhance our environment through a focus on a growth mindset. A growth mindset encourages an environment in which learners are willing to take risks, learn from mistakes or failures, and grow from that experience.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns or praise to share, please feel free to contact me at amanda_wadsworth@hcpss.org or Mr. Scobie at bradley_scobie@hcpss.org. We strive to communicate in an effective and timely manner throughout the year.
The success of our school and students is a team effort, and we look forward to working closely with you this year to make this a successful, inspiring and engaging year! Enjoy the remaining days of summer, and we will see you August 24th for the first day of school!
Please see below for other important information and reminders.
Sincerely,
Amanda Wadsworth, Principal
